On Leadership

Some leaders are meant to be more active. Some leaders, like me, are old and are meant to be Mentors and Counselors and directors. Both kinds of leaders are necessary. Even Moses had his Joshua, Elijah had his Elisha, Deborah had her king, and Jesus had His Twelve Apostles and many Disciples. No one man can do all the work for God. Therefore, I seek Godly people to do the physical work when I am unable. At my senior age, I consider myself as a guide for the younger Christian generation. Physically I am often too weak and disabled (Perhaps to humble me with “Thorns in the flesh like Paul?”. I am not sure of that. But, I know I am mentally and Spiritually qualified to lead, and I am entering my prime in that function. If anyone believes that supporting Our ministry is important or valuable for Christ, then come and join us now. I believe that you will be Greatly Blessed! There is still MUCH work to be done before Jesus returns. And, I am appointed by God to be one of His Servants and leaders for the next generation. May you hear! Blessings in His NAME.

Do Christians Have Doubt?

Whether you consider yourself a Christian or not, all people have times when they doubt their belief or faith (Read my previous Post). Do I doubt? Yes, sometimes, because I know that as a Human, I do not yet have the “Perfect” faith. As a Man, I consider my doubt as a good thing when it happens because, it just shows me how much I need to depend more on God’s Truth and Not my individual and sinful false self and thinking. The more I doubt God, the more I eventually realize that I need God. This is one function of The Holy Spirit. He reminds me daily that as God said, “My thoughts are not your thoughts nor are My ways Higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.) ( Read, Isaiah 55:8-8.) Any follower of Jesus will sometimes think such doubts. But, Christ is teaching us to rise above them (He is not condemning us). By practicing, as the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:8, to “Think on Heavenly Things.” I believe that Paul meant that if we Honor God we will eventually experience not only how evil we are, but more importantly, how Great and Loving Our God and Creator is. Since, the fall of man, we naturally will be plagued by doubt. We were never supposed to know what God knows about good and evil. But, it happened. Now, we struggle daily in a battle with both ourselves and temptations from the evil powers against us. However, the final result, if you Trust in Christ, is that Salvation is assured even if our doubts continue to Sanctify us through our failings as humans. That proves that God is Faithful even when we fail. So, please do not let your doubts torture you! It is the Spirit of God drawing you to understand your human limitations and to help you draw closer to Him! Now, we can be Free knowing what we are and what He is! Just hang on! God will never fail you because He promised! The Father God is Bright and Wonderful and Awesome for Us who will rely on Him. God has No Doubts! God has confidence in YOU! All people throughout history who have had Faith in God have had doubts. But, they return and obey even when they may not understand God’s ways. That, Like Abraham did, is what Faith is all about. The world will never give you a True Faith. Only by accepting Jesus will you find it. P.S. Read “Oswald Chamber’s” book, “My Utmost for His Highest.” (Read page, December 16). May Blessings be with you in His NAME.

Belief Verses Faith

In my opinion as a Christian, there is a very big difference between “Belief” and “Faith”, although they may go together. Anyone can “Believe” in something, even if it is wrong. The Nazi’s believed they were right when they murdered innocents and tried to conquer the world (As did so many others in human history). But, their beliefs were proven wrong. Even followers of Christ (or Atheists) can have beliefs. But, that does not mean that they are correct. Belief in most human ideas is one of belief in themselves or in some other way that does not Honor God. Many have such beliefs and they end up on their deathbed wondering if they were correct in their belief. I do not want that to happen to you or to me. According to Holy Scripture, “Faith”, on the other hand is about the mystery of God, His unbelievable (To us) LOVE and patience with humanity. It sums up what every person knows deep within themselves, that there is a wonderful mystery beyond our human understanding or reason. Furthermore, The Bible says, that belief is also an awareness of evil beings (Seen or unseen). But, they (The evil ones) do also believe in God. The problem and horror is that They do NOT have any Faith. They even Hate God. So, we as human beings who claim to be Christ followers must go beyond mere “Belief.” We must ask God to Give us His Hope and His Faith. Why? So that we can ACT in the same way that Our Lord Jesus Christ did every day the best we can (Not perfectly) but Honestly and selflessly. James, the half-Brother (In the flesh) and leader of the Church in Jerusalem once wrote that, “Faith without works is dead.” (Read James, New Testament, Chapter 2:19-20). It is “Unproductive" (No action or for no purpose), if we only “Believe” and do nothing with our belief in acts of Holiness. That means, we must sacrifice our human selves to Worship Him by doing all we can to serve Him AND the suffering people of the world NOW until He returns. The greatest need is all around you! Look for God! Then, do whatever you are able (Not what you are not able, but you can Pray for us!) to obey His direction. Start by reading, studying and asking God to reveal what He had written by Holy Prophets to YOU. He will reveal His Truth to you. And, you will finally know why you are here on earth and where you are going! Your life will have meaning and purpose! My Belief and my Faith is in Him alone. And God is all about LOVE. Love for Him and Love toward others. Then, you will experience Love of your True self. There is no other way, and I am convinced of it, even though I am a terrible sinner myself. But I know that Jesus is a Wonderful Savior! Amen! Blessings in His NAME.

What Really is the “Eucharist?”

The “Eucharist” is a religious term for describing one of the actions Jesus took during the last supper with His Twelve Apostles. It is meant to be done to follow Jesus’ example of sharing His sacrifice through the symbolic (Bread Unleavened, without sin) and wine (A mild form of alcohol mixed with water in those days) with only His twelve followers (Still Disciples), to show His Personal Sacrifice coming on the Cross of Crucifixion coming the next day. (Although, even they did not understand Him after three years of following Him). We Christians today, because of the writings since then can now understand what it really means. The Bread and Wine (Eucharist) act was of course symbolic. But it also represents, like Jesus washing of their feet, that we future Disciples of Christ should not only thank God for what He did through Jesus to save us forever; But also, we must, as humans, serve others too in like manner. Like Jesus did, to give Physical things to others less fortunate than we. The Greatest in the Kingdom of God shall be the servant of all. It is to humble ourselves to become great. When you [partake of the “Eucharist”, either yearly, Monthly, or weekly, do you forget that Jesus was making you to do it every day? How? By simply thanking Him for EVERY meal (And every other Blessing physically and spiritually) that He has given you today! There is a time (As Soloman said) to do it in a ceremonious way and take the “Eucharist”. But, it must be done only with other Believers and in The Holy Spirit in remembrance of Christ sacrifice to tell us to serve Him for others sake. We can, and must, every day thank our God in that way. We do not need to go to a special congregation (Unless, The Lord Commands you to) to remember His Sacrifice. Remember that even Jesus criticized the false religious practices and leaders of His day. I ask you to Pray about it. Then, let God direct you to when, where and how to observe it. Do not do it because I say or have my belief about this. I try myself to be follower and partaker of His Body and Blood daily. Do it because Jesus said to. P.S. Good instructions are given in the Holy Bible about this. Read John 13, John 15:16-17, Matthew 5:23-24; Matthew 7:12, and through Paul in 1 Cor. 11and 1 Cor. 8:12-15. Learn more by digging into the Bible on all matters of God. They are instructions from Him for Your welfare on earth and for all eternity. Blessings in His NAME.

On Christmas

I have written every Christmas for several years about what it truly means, where the custom originated, and how I view it as a Christian and Pastor. I won’t go into the history of that pagan Saturnalia origin again this year. What I will say, is that Christ has set us free to choose by our own will what we will to do. If, you want to Honor God, and then know that whenever or in whatever season, Jesus was born is really not the issue. What IS important is to know that God left a part of Himself in the form of Jesus from His Oneness and for our Salvation from evil. God manifested Himself as a man, like us, as the One called Jesus (Or, Emmanuel, God with us,Savior and Prince of Peace) to reconcile us back to Him. He left His High Holy Heaven to offer Himself in the form of a human being (And as God Himself) in a human body as a humble servant and sacrifice for ALL mankind (How incomprehensible to understand by us humans!). Nevertheless, it was done. Bow, all that remains is to see the baby Jesus (And His adult life ministry) as the ONLY way to really Worship God and His amazing Love for all creation by Him. Why would God do that? Basically, because WE can’t! And it was always God’s plan to finish what He started, in spite of our human selves, way back in the beginning of creation of the world. There has never in all human history or stated by any prophet or teacher of any other religion this Truth except by Jesus. The Truth that Jesus is the Son of Man, the Son of God and has been manifested by God to save us. Only the Bible gives record of that. So, go ahead and Worship the Only Son of God and God as God. His death and resurrection is more important than His birth because that is the True Believer’s Hope and Future eternally. As you sit around Family and friends this holiday season try to remember the Great cost and the Love God paid for you! God did not have to do it, He CHOSE to do it, but because He can never be wrong or fail, He did it to show us how much He loves and how much He wants us and how much we need Him. If you do not accept or believe this news, then what hope do you have in this insane and terminal life? All you have is your own way of living out a pointless life going nowhere except the grave. I suggest a better way. Just say a simple and honest cry for help to your Maker God. You will be pleasantly surprised by His Mysterious, but Loving help. He may answer you quickly or slowly, but, He will respect and answer your plea. And, will reveal to you what you must do. Yes, some of you go to a Church Congregation on Christmas Eve. But, do not go IF you are only trying to be right with God. Go because in your HEART you really WANT Him and to Worship Him and not just to be seen by other people there. Take the “Eucharist” (The Bread and Drink”) of Christ Jesus. But, do not take it if you have any resentment toward any other person. Go and ask forgiveness for YOUR wrong attitude and feeling, then you can do anything; even a religious activity with a clean and holy heart and not be sacrilegious. We Christians are called to rise above our own human desires. We all are called to Worship God and to Love one another and all people. Even against our human nature that fights against us. We must love all people regardless of their beliefs or misconceptions in love. We must show them in ACTION, by giving help if they really need help and want help Physically and Spiritually. And, we must always rely on Christ to do the right thing for His right reasons. And not just what we think is morally correct alone. Today is the day to seek and follow Christ. Not on just any customary holiday the world believes in, but EVERY day! All things are allowed if you do them for Christ. Remember, that Christmas day (Or any other day) is not about what YOU can give or get. It is always about what God gave, gives, and lets you receive. so you may learn to Love Him First and love others also. P.S. I suggest that if you have doubts then read in the Bible the Gospel of John (New Testament). Then, read the Psalms of King David in the Old Testament. That will be a very good beginning. In His NAME.

The Future of the Church

In each generation there are a few brave people who are willing to “Pay it Forward” to the next generation. What do I mean by that? There is enormous information, experience and knowledge still untapped from the older Christians in our world. And, they are all around you. Ever since the beginning of human history of God’s people, God constantly tries to remind the new generation to follow and remember their past and what God does for them. If you feel called to serve the True God, then you MUST have a Mentor(s) from the previous generation. Where would Joshua and Caleb (And others) be able to do with God if they were not willing to submit to Discipleship? Where would the Church of Christ be if the imperfect followers of Jesus were not willing to try and give their all for Him? Today, the Church has become too comfortable. It is much like the religious order during the time Jesus walked the earth. We think we are saved only by our Faith alone and if we follow the majority, and only go to a Church on Sunday without doing and obeying God we fool ourselves and are deceived. But, Faith without Works is Dead (Read James). We must go and find not only Christ, but a senior Mature Mentor Leader to assist us learn to put our Faith into tangible Action for Christ. This is necessary both now and for the future to carry out the Great Commission. If you want to move forward toward the future building and outreach of the Church, then you MUST get uncomfortable, and ask for an older mature believer to help you not to make foolish and unnecessary mistakes. Seek one out. A True Mentor will never take advantage of your pocketbook or your emotions. They will lead you to unify along with and coordinate with any believer in Christ. With the purpose of achieving Salvation for ALL people. Yes, they may seem eccentric or strange, because they have a Heart and Passion for God, even with all their human failings. But, they will always give credit to God and challenge you to move closer to Him. Why try to “Re-invent the wheel”? When God already has done that? You may think that you are a no body, a loser, a failure, and that life has dealt you too many blows of loss and grief. But, you are just the exact kind of a person that God is looking to save and join with in His Family. God does not look for the Pious, or those who think they have it all together or who think they can control their lives without Him. God is after the poor and sick and worthless people of this world to save. They truly want His help and He WILL help them if they sincerely ask Him to. You do NOT have to have “It all together” or be “Perfect’! All you need is a willing and sincere need for Him. God through Jesus will change you. He can help you Focus on what you CAN do and not on what you think or feel you cannot do (Read 2 Cor. 8:12). Because that is how He gets Glory! So, stop arguing, resisting others (And me too) for trying to pour our lives out as a drink offering for God The Father! Of course we and I am not perfect and I often myself must admit it and make apologies and repent. But, God is looking for people to FOLLOW HIM and others who Love Him with all their Heart and Life! Are you one of His? Really, ask yourself IF you are. We at “New Destinies” are totally committed to following Jesus. Are you? I have lost more than most people. I have suffered much! But, I will never give up my God! There just is no other way to exist. I thank MY God for sending me His Holy Spirit and at least one other person to pass the mantle forward to for the future. Do you have one person at least like that? Blessings in His NAME.

About True Peace at Christmas and Always

Many do not understand what real peace is. I must also, along with my many fellow Pastors and partners say, Peace is a Gift that Only God gives to those who believe in Christ Jesus. During these Holiday seasons we tend to focus on only the way we can give to our friends and families some token gift to them that we love them. But, what about the True giving that came when Jesus was born into our evil and wicked world? Do you remember that He is the reason for our celebration and many blessings? I hope so. The true Peace of God is NOT in the material gifts or feelings we have. When we think or do something we believe is morally right, we limit ourselves to a lower standard. We must rise above merely a Morality that we think is correct and reach upward to God’s morality. The peace that Jesus was teaching was an INNER peace which rises above whatever troubles or circumstances we have as humans in this world. It is a peace that knows that God is in control of everything. Yes, we are free to celebrate Christmas or any other holiday. But, we must remember to put Our Lord and Master within it or we are no more than mere Pagans against God. We as humans have a free will. We must exercise that will in cooperation with God’s will or we will suffer the terrible consequences of our own way of thinking and acting. If, we humbly accept and submit our will to His, then we can enjoy any celebration, whether Pagan or not, because we understand that every celebration is a celebration about Christ. God wants us to Love Him First. Then we can be faulty humans struggling to conform our will to His. He understands our weaknesses and allows for them because He sent Jesus, the Perfect One. To save and reconcile us back to The Father God. His Love is far above what we can ever know. But, His Love is above us and for us always If we align our will with His. And then comes His peace which is beyond our understanding! All a person needs to do is simply speak out to God and say, “LORD GOD, Help me!” I can assure you that He will join with your will. And, even if life is different thereafter, you will want to reach out like Jesus did to help the suffering and lost who do not yet know Him. But, it will cost you! You will suffer in a like way as Jesus did! However, you will find Freedom and Joy in the suffering because Christ has overcome the world and taken over your life. He will then use you, even if you think you are not worthy. That is the Miracle of Trust in Him! Just try it and see! God never requires us to be “Perfect” in this life. He only asks that we believe in Him, His sacrifice and His Resurrection from death, demonstrated by Jesus at Calvary. Jesus will come again as The Lord and Ruler of the NEW world later. Until then, we must align our wills with The Father. We are like children, some more grown and some a little grown and some who have not yet learned how to grow. Those of us who have even a little growth in Maturity of Christ are required to share the “Good News” with those who are ignorant. With God’s education the whole world can have a real education. When a person arrives at this point because God has enlightened them, then all life has meaning and purpose, even the trials and sufferings we have glorify Him. What do you have to lose? Try Christ! And watch what He does IN you! God loves to take the most wretched people who ask Him for help and use them for His purposes (Even when that person is still faulty). God can and will help you, in spite of your doubts and fears and faults to do anything He wants. But, He prefers that you align yourself to His will. A great teacher of mine once told me, “When our will aligns with God’s will, Then Miracles happen.” And, it has been my personal experience that it is true. But, he didn’t tell me about the necessary cost to me through suffering! But, the suffering is designed to make you (And me) more like Christ, the NEW Human and God. And. Less of your individual self-centered ways. God corrects us in His LOVE (AGAPE LOVE). And not because He is angry at us. Jesus Christ fixed that problem forever for those who trust and believe Him. I pray you may believe Him! I hope and Pray that you will (If you have not already) just speak out to God that you want and need Him. I promise, He promises, that He will start to change your experience of living and teach you through The Holy Spirit just what Jesus was and is all about and will help you find answers to your present life and your future life. Blessings in His NAME.

On Giving and Receiving

It is unfortunate that so many Christians fail to understand yet Christ’s teaching about Giving and Receiving. Some think that giving is more blessed than receiving and in fact it is. But, “Receiving” is also necessary for that Spiritual Principal to have good effect. I want her and now to focus on the “Receiving” part. In fact, Jesus never said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” It was the Apostle Paul who first said those words (Acts 20:35). But, Paul was stating something he himself was taught by Jesus in revelation. Jesus did many times speak about giving and receiving. Many of Jesus’ parables and stories was pointed directly at First Worshiping God The Father, then that we must put into action our faith by serving the helpless and needy who are lost to the world of Satan. So that, they might learn that Christ rules all. Paul’s was stating that every Believer should follow Jesus’ example for living on earth, and that included giving and receiving what we have been freely imparted with by the Holy Spirit. To receive, or ask for help from God is First. And, to ask to receive help from another believer is the same as being a giver and lover of oneself and God. Why? Because when one asks for help (When it is True help and Not just a want), the receiver actually grants a big blessing on the giver. But, so many fail through their Pride to ask and reach out for help because they still are too independent on their own ability or fear or self-centered ideas. That, on both sides of the giving and receiving equation is directly against God’s Will for us. It hurts US and that hurts Him! Let me ask you a question: How can any believer who is in real need ever Give anything unless at sometime they are in need and ask for help? Also, how can a Giver be blessed, if no one ever asks and allows the giver to give? That is what Christ meant through Paul to teach. If there were no receivers, then givers could not give! And, Jesus came from Heaven and The Father to earth to Give Life because He already HAD everything before and during His earthly ministry always. That is the Primary difference between Christ Jesus and us human beings. Still, we are called to imitate Christ and IF we believe in His Death for us and Resurrection for us then we will not only be saved eternally, but be both givers and receivers in Unity with The Father. I have had more than a few Clients’s who thought that to ask someone for help in any practical sense of human need might inconvenience the other person. And, that is wrong thinking! (Unless only asking for sympathy or for something the person can do for themselves). But if you are in real need, first Pray, then contact a Christian to help you. The persons you ask, if they are true believers and able to, will help you. Christ will make them. And, then both they and you will be blessed. Even ask a non-believer for help, because God in His mysterious and Great Ways and Love of mankind can and does use everyone to give and receive for His Glory. Everyone can be used. Everyone can be Saved! That IS the Will of Our God and always has been. We ourselves cannot save ourselves! Here is a simple solution I suggest. Just put your hands together, bow down on your knees, and then simply say, “God please, I need Your help!” If you are sincere then watch what happens for good in your life. God can, and does, take the most “messed up” people (Like He did with me) and give you help and make you a servant for Him. IF, you accept Jesus as your Savior (John 3:16). Please, Pray, read the Holy Scriptures (The Bible) and seek to keep learning more about His Truth for your life. Blessings in His NAME.

What is that to You, Follow ME!

In the Bible in John 21:15-23, Jesus Spoke to Simon Peter, son of John about what the Love of Christ meant. Peter was asked THREE times by Jesus, “Do you Love Me more than these (The other Apostles and Disciples). Peter replied, “Yes, Master, You know that I Love You.” But, what KIND of LOVE was Peter telling Jesus he had for Him? There are FOUR kinds of Love translated from the original Greek. First, what is translated as “STORCH” Love. That is the kind of Love that a parent has for their child. Second, is “EROS” Love, that is based on Physical Passions. Third, is “Phileo” Love, that is the love someone has for an intimate friend. Lastly, there is “AGAPE” love, and that is the highest committed Love of God to us. So, which kind of Love was Peter telling Jesus that Peter had? (Remember, Peter had denied Jesus Three times prior to Jesus’ crucifixion). Peter knew that he had failed Jesus in a Human way. He could now only say that “I love you” in the “Phileo” way, because he now knew that he was only a mere Human with faults (Sins). So, Jesus told Peter to #1 “FEED My lambs”, and #2, “Shepherd My sheep”, and #3, “FEED My sheep.” And also, Not to ask about other’s working for Him (Christ), but to, “Follow Me.” (Not compare your ministry or yourself with others). Jesus acknowledged Peter’s Humanness; He forgave him THREE times, just as Peter had prior denied Jesus THREE times. But, the amazing thing now was that Jesus knew that Peter had Repented and now could follow Him (Jesus). And, to “Follow Him” meant that like Peter, we must all who Believe in Christ Love Him as a human being, even when we are still faulty and sinners. (The Holy Spirit will Counsel and Guide and Comfort us in His purposes). Each of us can be a “Friend” of Christ, even though we are not yet perfected as humans. And, as my distant relative Chuck Smith of CCO Costa Mesa once told me, "You must follow Christ and build with Him whatever He decides to do with you." At the time, I did not understand him, but after some years passed I now do. I am trying to build upon The Rock, Jesus Christ with Him and not on my own way. Because His ways and His thoughts are Higher than mine (And ours). So, I do this simple ministry of writing and some few outreaches to the lost and needy because I do Love My God deep within. My (Our) work at “New Destinies” is as faulty sinners trying to be a “Friend” of Jesus (Phileo) and hopefully reach the high calling of “Agape” Love that Christ first showed to us through His Words in the Bible and Gospel of “Good News.” I do this as a writer and unifier between the Church mostly, that is my calling, and only as The Holy Spirit Counseling and through me to the Lost any way that I can for Our Father God. Will you join us? We have Much to DO to FEED and Shepherd (FEED translated from Greek means: Both Literally Physically and Spiritually) the Lost sheep in the world. And, remember, what Jesus said in John 15:13, “No one has greater Love than to lay down their life for His friends.” P.S. You may also like reading, “The Four Loves”, by C.S. Lewis. On This Christmas

We at “New Destinies” want to tell all our readers that, as many have said before is, that we Pray you all remember the true Spirit of Christmas. As you relax with your Families and friends, please keep in mind that “Christmas”, (Although a Pagan custom), is for us Christians really about the birth of Jesus, and “The Golden Rule”. To Love God, His Son Jesus Christ as our Savior, His death and Resurrection from the Cross for us so we may live forever. We should remember and act with all our being and hearts to everyday do everything possible to Love God and the suffering all around us in our community who have so little of the physical comforts we shall enjoy this Holiday season. Our missions and hope is that while you rest in God’s Salvation and blessings, that you DO something to Show that you are a Representative of Christ. Even if you must experience some discomfort by giving a little extra for the Church and the Lost and Hopeless within our neighborhoods. Just to give a little more, as Our Lord said, “If anyone gives even a cup of water to one of mine, then you do so for ME.” We at “New Destinies” take that command seriously. But, we are too few and also need your cooperation from the Heart for Christ. And, remember also, while you are well fed and warm that MANY are NOT! They have not even heard the Truth of Christ. At least you can tell them that. We will always Pray for you all and ask Our Father God to make you more sensitive toward our suffering neighbors. Even one person with GOD is an Army! And, to Give is MORE blessed than to receive. May The LORD Bless your commitment to Him and your compassion for our suffering people. In His NAME.

Part of My Soldier Story

I remember many years ago when I was still a Soldier in the Military of America when our Battalion was out on combat maneuvers a very special event that has remained with me all my life till now. I would like to share that with you my Christian friends. One day one of my fellow Soldiers and I were sitting under and Oak tree waiting for our Company Commander to call us off our break time. My friend and I were talking about why God allows us Soldiers to suffer so much. Suddenly we both looked up and there was a Chaplain of Rank Major standing beside our tree. We were shocked and immediately stood up and saluted. He very kindly told us to relax. We asked him how he found us way out in the “Boonies” (Far away from everyone in the field). And, he said he had an intuition to just walk out where we were. So, after our shock, we asked him what he wanted. He simply said, “I am here because God told me that there were some Troops who needed some guidance.” I asked him what he meant. He replied, “Sergeant, you will one day be a man that God will use to help suffering Soldiers and others.” I replied, “But, I am just a no body! I’m not even sure that I believe as you do.” He replied, “Be patient! The time will come when you will learn what Christ wants.” At that time I was a Squad leader and I did not know how to comfort and encourage my fighting troops with the right words beyond the usual Vietnam war Clichés, like “Suck it up!” and such sayings. I needed REAL answers to tell my men that God Loved and Cared for them and that they were doing the right thing for the right reason. Now, after talking with the Chaplain, I had some answers! That was a great turning point for me and my men. I began to lead them as if God was protecting and leading us. He did! It has taken me over five decades to now understand what that experience meant to me. And, with all my imperfections as a human being, I KNOW what that Chaplain meant way back then. It has been my privilege to be a servant of my God since that time. And, although I have suffered terribly through several wars and conflicts after that, I would not have chosen any other way as both Soldier and Pastor for Jesus. In fact, I did NOT choose it. I had to be forced into it! But, it has all been worth it! My men survived! And, I survive to Glorify Christ! Well, that is only one part of my life story that I will never forget. I have other stories too! But, that’s for later. Blessings in His NAME.

Late News on Homeless

We went out the other night in the rain and cold to the streets of Oceanside. We found some homeless. They were suffering miserably. We took some blankets and tried to comfort them with the Love of Christ. After we returned we heard from local officials that that night some people died from the exposure of rain and cold. We were heartbroken. I cannot emphasize enough to you my Brethren of Christ Jesus, that you MUST DO something to stop this needless loss of life. We live in warm homes, and have many material blessings from our God. But, He wants us to Give some (Or all if needed) for His purposes. And, one of His purposes has always been to go out to the poor and suffering. And, we work to help homeless and Soldiers and their Families. We do not concern ourselves with WHY they are homeless or suffering. Some of them do have problems with chemical abuse and other mental issues; however, to reach them for Christ is what we try to do and what they really need! We can refer them to other agencies for their other issues. You are Saved by your Belief in Christ, but Faith without works for Christ is required also (Read James in the Bible). We cannot only have Faith alone without Showing our Love to God through Good works! They go hand in hand. So, Please join us, please DO something to help our ignorant and suffering lost people on the streets in our own backyard! It only takes a small amount of time, money or Prayers. If you can move, then move with us out to the streets! As Jacob Marley said to Ebenezer Scrooge, “Business!, Mankind is my business, the common welfare of my fellow man was my business”. Do not make the same mistake with your life. Blessings in His NAME.

More About Us

Occasionally, some ask what is our mission at “New Destinies”. So, to try and clear this up, we are trying to Focus on Jesus Christ, through The Holy Spirit to please God The Father. In our way, we try to show our Love for God and our fellow human beings in any way we can. I am just a man and not without my own faults, merely trying to allow God to move and change me for His Purposes. Besides being a Christian Counselor with and under Christ (Teacher), I am also an “Organizer” (See 1 Peter 4:7-11 and 1 Cor. 12:27-32 and Chapter 13, MEV Version). My Gifts (Talents) are in these two areas of The Church. In practical means, I (We) let Christ and The Holy Spirit guide us along these verses. Also, to reach out to try and carry out Our Lord’s “Great Commission” of carrying the Good News about Him (Matthew 28:18-20). I care not for any recognition or reward from people. I only want God to show Himself in human hearts through Christ and the Holy Spirit and what They can DO to change us all who come to believe to be faithful, loving and Action followers. “Faith without works is dead” (Read Book of James in the Bible on that). Therefore, may Faith, Hope and Charity (Love in ACTION) be Our goal until Our Lord Jesus is sent back to us. Keep Jesus in Christmas and for every day. Blessings and Service in His NAME.

Food For The Homeless

Along with Christian Counseling, we at New Destinies are always looking for new ways to help our community. We coordinate and cooperate with any agency that supports Soldiers, Veterans and their Families. We also have a heartfelt desire to reach the homeless, especially in the San Diego area and surrounding Cities. Along with our Christian Counseling, we are involved with cooperating with all San Diego areas for distribution of food to the homeless. This is a new mission for us for Christ and we are focusing our efforts to locate extremely needed PORTABLE Refrigeration Units for the San Diego Food Bank. The San Diego Food Bank distributes food to homeless shelters, and Food Kitchens, and others throughout all San Diego areas. They have an Urgent need for portable refrigeration units. And, especially now and during the winter months ahead. We are asking that if anyone in the Church Congregations in North County knows of or can coordinate with us or the San Diego Food Bank to find any portable refrigeration units by contacting companies that make, rent at reduced cost, donate or will lend us a few of these units for any length of time to contact us. We have already contacted the San Diego Food Bank and they are hoping we Christians may help them in this search. You can contact us or contact Arielle Golden (agolden@feedingamericasd.org) if you know about or can assist in this way. Listen, my friends. Church is Christ’s Body. It is not simply a Place to go like parking your car in a garage. One of my Mentors said, “Faith without works is dead!” (The Bible, Book of James, half Brother of Jesus). Another mentor of mine said once,“ We are as a Church Not an adult day care facility, we are here to also go out and change the world like our Lord did.” That’s wise advice for those who have ears to hear. Blessings! In His NAME.

Our Street Homeless Solution

Again I have to write about the North County San Diego homeless situation. I am impelled by Our Father, Christ Jesus, and The Holy Spirit to do so again! We at New Destinies only hope to be hands and feet for Christ. We ask no other reward or recognition. Yet, it seems that our pleas for helping the homeless street people have been entirely ignored by the Christian community this year. This is the Holiday Season when Christ should be the Center of all the activities we do, not just bask in our benefits and blessings of material gain. How would YOU feel if you were living on the streets in the cold, trying to hang on to Hope or that anyone Cares about your terrible condition and not know what to do about it? Most of us are focused on our own Families or friends during this season (Or any other) and forget that Jesus showed us a better way. We have no excuse to believe that we are following Him IF we neglect the hurting and lost just for our own families and friends or comforts only. There are so many others who have nothing So, I propose you, as the Apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 4, to give all you can for the suffering needy, both in the Church, and also out of it. You can not be a true Christian if you just try to make yourselves comfortable with songs and celebrations only, when so many more of us are dying for the “Good NEWS”. And everyone can DO something! Either Volunteer with us, or some other organization or if you are physically unable, then PRAY and GIVE something as you can. Please, have the LOVE of God in your Hearts! Join us in our efforts. We have a few Disciples of Christ and they are exhausted trying to go out to the worlds hurting. More help is needed. You will be blessed for your compassion.

Our Soldier Experience

I am a veteran of America and many wars. In my old age I often ask myself (And God) did I and my fellow comrades in arms really make a difference in this crazy world for good? The answer often comes that, “There is no greater love than to lay down your life for your brother.” (As Jesus Christ said). And, although I am still among the earthly living, I sometimes hear the truth that even though I survived the horrors of wars and other’s died, that we the survivors have the greater responsibility of reminding the world that God is real and He is sovereign and He decides who must suffer, sacrifice, live or die. That it is necessary in order to get our attention back on Him. I find much comfort in this truth. It keeps me, as faulty as I am, looking forward and outward toward trying to see things through the eyes of Jesus. After all, no man suffered more than Him. So, whatever I suffered in wars is really small compared to what He did. Most people throughout history always seem to forget the noble efforts of Soldiers (And others) to love Him and their Homeland. The love for God and Country is real no matter if you win or lose a war. But, the main thing is that a Soldier believes that they are fighting for Liberty and Freedom and Justice for ALL people. If a Soldier can come back from any war knowing that, then, they are among the “Heavenly Armies of God.” Since God is in control of all events, then we have done our duty. Be proud! Be thankful! Yes, perhaps people will forget your sacrifice, but God will always remember it! Yes, the people who have not fought in any war may never understand us Veterans. And, yes, we will always feel that people around us can’t ever understand our daily memories and suffering for lost opportunities, lost comrades and the death and destruction of innocent people we have seen. These things remain forever etched in our minds. It is only among our fellow “Brothers in arms” that we find our identity and comfort until we finally find Christ (Or rather He finds us). Once that happens we find we can live with after the war with our physical, mental and emotional suffering and know that Jesus suffered more than we can ever imagine and He was there always with us on the battlefield even if we did not know it at the time. We are then impelled to tell our stories of our losses and try to live a good life for our dead friends. And we ourselves can live in a way that truly honors them. Make your life count for love, for God, and for others, even if they never understand you. Then, you will be free to really live and be the true Hero that you are. Fight now the good fight of Faith with God and do everything possible to love people even if they never understand or love you back or know what we know. At least, you will find peace in your suffering and will know you are a special and respected and loved person in God’s and Americas eyes. God will always know yourself sacrifice and love you even if others do not.

Christ in Action

Forgive me if I sound critical. But, there is a need in the present Church for leaders to stir some and rebuke as The Lord did when He was on Earth. The rebuke we received from the Holy Spirit is this. That many Church leaders and members are acting like defeated goats and not stepping out in Faith as true Sheep. Many go to Church meetings. Many Pastoral Ministers and leaders seem to be comfortable by ONLY “Preaching” The Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is NOT enough (Read James in the Bible). As Christians, we all MUST DO (Act) in something to make true Faith real. We must act to help the poor! We cannot merely be so selfish by just going to a Sunday service alone just so that we can feel we are right with God. The self-centered way is NOT the way to Christ Freedom! Jesus taught and lived to teach us that self sacrifice is the ONLY way to the Kingdom of God. We must reach out to our suffering neighbor. We must die like Jesus did to our selfish desires. And, to do that, we must obey God and reach out to those who yet do not understand or know Him. In order to have a Faith that is alive we must take every opportunity presented us by anyone trying to help the suffering in our world. We must be willing to suffer like Jesus. We must believe that all the material and spiritual things we have been blessed with do not belong to us alone. We must share what belongs to God (And that is everything, our time, our money and our very lives) to promote the Kingdom of God here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Salvation is a Free gift, IF you believe God. But, you will be judged by your action or inaction while you are alive on Earth. Why miss the extra blessings? If you have God’s Holy Spirit IN you, then you will sacrifice everything necessary (Even if it is uncomfortable for you) to reach out to the hurting people around you where you live now. To Worship God one must Love Him AND His Children (And all people are His). Your Faith alone without ACTION will NOT be enough to please Our Father! To be a true follower of Christ requires that you suffer in like kind what Jesus suffered on THE CROSS! Then and ONLY then, can you hope for a resurrection. Jesus said, “Of myself I am nothing. It is the FATHER that does the work.” Make no mistake, you must help the suffering and poor around you any way that you can, or you are NOT a follower of Jesus Christ! You must GIVE! The blessings come first from that. Not first from receiving as many of us think. You must suffer hardship, even if your comforts suffer, by giving ALL (If necessary) your money, time or resources or self (Which are from God anyway and belong to Him). Please think and Pray about it, then act! On “Judgment Day” you alone will either be a Sheep or a Goat. And, only the BLOOD of Christ will Save you. But also, your works for Him while alive on Earth will determine if you are pleasing to God or not. You may be terribly surprised at His reply to YOU, If you fail to give more than He has given you. Even a cup of water given to a suffering soul is better than having your personal comforts here on Earth. A Rebuke with Love. Pastor Smitty

Our Homeless Blanket Project

Our Homeless Blanket Project in San Diego believes there is much more need for helping the homeless living on our streets who are unable to find a Shelter during winter months from December through March every year. And this year of 2015-2016 it is predicted we will have one of the coldest winters on record. Approximately 1000 people cannot remain warm. Some will die from the cold alone. As Christians, we are all hard pressed to support our Families and many other outreaches for the poor both in our own Churches and for other charities. Yet, in our own Cities in North County San Diego, many people, Children of God, are in desperate need all around us on the streets. I ask, is it too much to ask North County Church Congregations regardless of denomination to reach out just a little more for the Love of Jesus Christ and give a little of what God has blessed us all with financially for this cause for the helpless homeless on our very streets? Our idea about this Ministry is to set aside every rational or judgmental excuses about WHY we have homeless or the CAUSES of it. We at New Destinies focus only on the Love and Mercy toward our suffering fellow Humans regardless of trying to explain HOW the homeless got on the streets. We believe that if we show kindness by giving a blanket to them and asking them to go to one other homeless person on the streets, they will respond and find a sense of purpose and value again. Then, we can begin preaching the Gospel of Christ to them one at a time. Our experience with this outreach has proved that many street homeless First need a reason to help each other, so that, they themselves can feel a Personal Value in doing so. And, at the same time, feel better about themselves. That then opens the door to our ability to tell them about other organizations that may assist them off the streets. But, the main goal is to talk with them about Jesus. Therefore, if you agree with our mission outreach, we ask our fellow Christians to contact and work with us on our “Blanket Project.” by offering $8.00 to your local Church this winter. We at New Destinies will coordinate the funds together for their distribution by Church members and their own volunteers to distribute the blankets here in our neighborhoods. So, join our Blog, email us and, May God Bless you! In His NAME.
